Our story
Where the light leads you somewhere beyond.
DEFINITION
ˈloʊ.ən.fɔːl
Joyous light fall. The moment when sunlight or moonlight reflects across the surface of the sea in a band of shimmering light, forming a soft descending pathway. Derived from the Cornish lowen — joy, light, brightness — and the English fall — to descend, to soften, to release.
The brand
Making everyday life adventurous
Lowenfall is built for people who believe that adventure isn't reserved for the extraordinary — it lives in the everyday. In the cold morning swim before the world wakes up. In the walk you take the same route but notice something new. In the routine you've quietly built around the things that make you feel most alive.
At its heart, Lowenfall is a place to log your adventures — big and small — so that the moments that matter don't fade. A record of how things felt, not just what happened. Something to return to, to share, to build on. But it's also a place to design the life you want to live. To set routines that bring adventure into the ordinary. To reflect on the daily activities that shape you — the habits, the rituals, the small acts of intention that, over time, become a life well lived. This is not about chasing extremes. It's about noticing more, recording more, and living with a little more intention every day.
We built Lowenfall because we wanted a place that held all of it: the wild swims and the quiet walks, the summit moments and the morning routines, the adventures you plan and the ones that find you. A personal log of a life made adventurous — one day at a time.
The founder
The story behind the name
Lowenfall — the joyous light fall
Lowenfall didn't begin as an idea. It began in the water.
For years, my daughter and I would wait for the perfect moment — a high-tide sunset — and then head down to the sea for a swim. The ritual was always the same: we'd wade out until the cold wrapped around us, hold hands, take a breath, and do a gratitude dive together. Down into the quiet. Up into the light.
Then we'd stay out there, floating, talking, laughing, sometimes saying nothing at all, until the sun disappeared behind the horizon. And every time, without fail, the same thing happened: the light stretched across the water in a glowing path, a shimmering road pointing somewhere beyond us.
That path had a presence. It felt like a guide. It felt like a message.
I didn't have a name for it then — just a feeling that those swims were teaching me something. About slowing down. About noticing. About connection. About how adventure isn't always about distance or difficulty; sometimes it's about the small rituals that anchor you to the people you love.
Later, when I began shaping an idea for an adventure-logging platform — something reflective, warm, personal — that light path came back to me. The way it looked. The way it felt. The way it seemed to illuminate more than just the surface of the sea.
So I gave it a name. A Cornish name built from lowen (light, joy) and fall (calming down and descend). Lowenfall — joyous light fall.
It became the heart of the brand: a reminder that every adventure carries meaning, that every journey teaches something, that the light we follow is often the one we create ourselves.
Lowenfall is an adventure log and a daily companion shaped by those evenings in the water — by gratitude dives, by golden horizons, by the quiet bond between a parent and a child watching the day fade together. It's not about chasing extremes. It's about honouring the moments that illuminate us.
Lowenfall is the road of light. And it began with a sunset swim. Louis

What we believe
The wild is not a destination
Adventure isn't a finish line — it's a way of noticing the world. We believe in the quiet moments between the big ones: the breath before the swim, the pause on the mountain, the glimmering light drifting down the horizon.
Build the habit
The best adventures aren't always spontaneous — they're the ones you've made room for. Routines are how you bring adventure into the everyday, consistently, intentionally, one small act at a time.
Reflect on it
The log exists because memory fades. Write it down — the cold, the glimmering light, the exact moment the mist lifted, the feeling you carried home. Reflection is how an experience becomes a part of you.
Notice more
Adventure lives in the details: the quality of the light, the temperature of the water, the way a familiar path feels different on a different day. Lowenfall is a practice of paying attention.
Cornwall & the North
Two landscapes, one spirit
Cornwall gave us the sea — its moods, its cold, its indifference to plans. Scandinavia gave us the philosophy: that being outside in all weathers is not hardship, it is health. Lowenfall lives in the space between those two ideas.
